Today, the satellite cellular solution supports:
- Voice services
- Local, long-distance and roaming capabilities*
- Short Message Service (SMS) text messaging
- Pre-paid billing
- Optimization for rural and remote regions to ensure least-cost use of satellite bandwidth
- Inter-operability with North American cellular networks
The network will support up to 1,000 subscribers who will be able to use the same mobile phones provided by urban cellular operators.
*Local subscribers will not only have the ability to talk to each other over the local network but they will also be able to roam on partner networks when they travel to the rest of the country.
